As Summer returns to Chicago, we are busy adding the final touches to our completely remodeled architectural wall showroom. The renovation was timed intentionally for the wave of interior designers and architects traveling to Chicago for the 2016 Design Expo for commercial interior design products at Merchandise Mart. From the windows of our 4th floor Kinzie Design Center showroom we see a flurry of activity at neighboring Merchandise Mart. A steady flow of trucks filled with commercial construction products come and go every hour.
Each June commercial interior design product manufacturers introduce thousands of new merchandise to over 50,000 design experts in downtown Chicago. A&D professionals flock the floors of the Mart to be wowed by the latest fashions and innovations in commercial interior design products. Companies such as NxtWall and Nightingale who have permanent showrooms inside, next to, or adjacent to the Mart build new displays and introduce unique products that are helpful to 2016 Design Expo attendees who are seeking innovative and cost effective commercial interior design products.
Office desks, loungers, demountable walls, office cubicles, tables, tasks chairs, executive chairs, reception area chairs, chairs for every purpose, emerge from semi trailers and make their way to floors 3, 10, 11 or 7 of the Merchandise Mart. Stylish furniture designers, set designers, and interior designers in comfy flats with Starbucks cups rush to install stunning showrooms vie for attention amidst over 400 other contract industry exhibitors.
We enjoy being a part of the energy the Design Expo creates each year and we welcome all attendees to head outdoors and across the street to see us. The NxtWall showroom will be open to the public each day of the 2016 Design Expo from noon to six, except Wednesday when we close at noon. We are also holding private tours and training sessions for pre-registered guests. Private sessions are available from 9am – noon and spaces are filling fast. Clearly a design expo is not complete without a party! Remember, on Tuesday, June 17, 2016 we will be hosting our annual NxtEvent cocktail reception. Join us for a casual gathering at the NxtWall showroom. Relax over a beverage and tasty treats with A&D industry professionals, facility managers, corporate executives and manufacturer / dealers alike. After the hectic pace of the Mart the NxtEvent has become known as the respite in the city. It’s a perfect get away and a great place to score free drinks and appetizers downtown Chicago!
As the flowing flag banners are placed at the entrance on the corner of Kinzie and Franklin, and we watch as more semi-trucks jockey for unloading positions at the Mart, we give thanks our Chicago demountable wall showroom is located adjacent and on the north side of the Mart. The NxtWall banner is suspended on the exterior toward the top of the Kinzie Design Showroom for ease in locating us from the Merchandise Mart. While the other large office furniture manufacturers like Herman Miller Office Furniture and Smith Systems Academia Furniture work into the wee hours to pull together their beautiful 5000 square feet or more of showroom, we’ll be hanging the NxtWall banner on the exterior of the building and sipping a cold one at the showroom bar awaiting your arrival.
